MIA at the MOA? Always Find Your Parked Car 

At CommerceTel, our technological advantage supports the development of limitless mobile applications. The usefulness of the mobile lifestyle is continuing to manifest itself in creative ways, as shoppers in Minnesota have learned.

This past holiday season, Philips Electronics and Minneapolis's Mall of America teamed up to offer shoppers a convenient way to find their parked cars. Large signs were posted throughout the parking structure telling people to text their parking locations to a short code. While shopping, a message was sent back to the phones reminding people where they parked. A Philips Electronics promotional message was sent along with the reminder, providing a link to a promotional code.

This campaign was a win-win situation, providing shoppers with a creative convenience while simultaneously driving attention to Philips Electronics' brand. This demonstrates yet another way to utilize the innovative capacity of mobile marketing.
 
Papa John Pizza

Papa John's Scores Big with Super Bowl Promotion

Papa John's Pizza is taking advantage of mobile text technology to better reach its customers. The major pizza chain has recently implemented a text-to-order program, making it more convenient than ever for customers to order and receive their pizza favorites. After registering online and creating a list of preset preferences, customers are able to text and confirm their orders within seconds.

 

In addition, Papa John's recently created "TEXTra Points 4 Pizza" offering discounts based on the 2008 Super Bowl score. Registered fans have a chance to win special savings on a large, three topping pizza. Participants have the chance to receive 75% off if the cumulative score of the game is 75 points or greater. If so, a promotional code will be sent to the phones of participants allowing them to receive the discount when they order the pizza online after the game.

The Mobile Marketing AssociationThe following numbers show a growing interest in mobile marketing, especially among ethnic groups and teens. Take a look at the most interesting findings of the MMA's "2007 Mobile Attitude and Usage Study."

 

What You Should Know about Mobile Marketing...

-Teens (female teens in particular) are the heaviest mobile text users

-The highest mobile marketing participation rate is among users ages 25-44

-African Americans and English-dominant Hispanics indicate an especially strong interest mobile marketing

-Roughly 1 in 4 users express interest in participating in mobile marketing efforts

-The youth market remains the strongest candidate for overall mobile marketing initiatives

-Growth is more likely to come from adding new applications, rather than acquiring new users

-Sweepstakes/voting and alerts about purchases and accounts are the highest used applications
