CommerceTel Unveils CallForContent™,
a New Mobile Content Discovery and Distribution System
that Removes Consumer Obstacles to Accessing Mobile Content
Texting keywords to short codes no longer necessary
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - August 28, 2006 - CommerceTel, an innovative mobile technology company dedicated to removing obstacles that have limited the consumer adoption of mobile content, today announced the availability of CallForContent™ (C4C), a ground-breaking, patent-pending mobile content discovery and distribution system for wireless carriers, content owners, and mobile advertisers. C4C allows users to get mobile content, including ringtones, wallpaper, games, and applications, delivered directly to their mobile phones by simply dialing a standard 10-digit phone number. When users dial the number, they hear a customized message from the carrier or content owner and then select and purchase content via IVR or voice activation. The C4C system architecture is unique in that its intuitively simple IVR/voice activation interface directly integrates with mobile messaging networks. Mobile content is delivered to the user’s mobile phone via WAP, SMS, or MMS and can be billed through C4C's integrated payment facility, which includes support for carrier P-SMS billing systems.
"C4C provides the easiest way for consumers to discover mobile content through a process they are already completely familiar with—dialing a phone number," said Steve Cherry, CommerceTel CEO. "C4C opens the floodgates of mobile content delivery and is a boon for content owners as well as existing wireless service providers who can double their subscriber numbers by integrating C4C with their existing offerings." C4C is the only system of its kind. Unlike other systems that require the use of special dialing formats such as #123 or **ABC, which can only be used at the discretion and with the permission of individual wireless carriers, C4C uses North American Number Plan (NANP) numbers that can be dialed from any mobile or landline phone. C4C is an all IP, all software, massively scalable platform that supports virtually unlimited simultaneous inbound calls. It enables content owners and mobile marketers to launch various campaigns for interactive advertising, mobile content distribution, and transacting of commerce by phone. A content owner can initiate a C4C mobile campaign in a matter of minutes. No need to wait for the provisioning of special dialing codes or short codes that can sometimes take months.
"Imagine the ease with which an entertainment brand can reach the vast mobile audience by launching a campaign on TV, radio, newspaper or billboards with the simple call-to-action of dialing a custom vanity phone number," said Cherry. "C4C allows carriers, entertainment companies - virtually any company with a message or content to deliver - to quickly reach the mobile audience, increase their profits, and take full advantage of the huge mobile opportunity."
