LOS ANGELES, CTIA WIRELESS IT AND ENTERTAINMENT, BOOTH 1012 - September 12, 2006
UrbanWorld Wireless, leading wireless content provider serving the urban youth market, and CommerceTel,
mobile technology company dedicated to removing obstacles that have limited the adoption of mobile content,
announced a new partnership. As part of the deal, UrbanWorld Wireless is using CommerceTel's innovative
Call For ContentSM (C4C) distribution service to distribute ringtones and other mobile products from its
exclusive roster of elite artists, comedians, athletes, actors and other celebrities. C4C allows mobile users to
acquire mobile content by simply dialing a standard 10-digit "vanity number" and then, either through
touchtone or voice input, select and purchase content.
"This is an exciting partnership and helps us deliver content to mobile users in a new, but familiar and simple
way, allowing them to access and download the mobile content they want quickly," said Mike Johns,
UrbanWorld Wireless CEO. "Through the C4C system, which eliminates the usual requirements of texting and
navigating cell phone menus, we're able to offer various ways to get content and users can choose what's best
for them."
UrbanWorld Wireless is using customized, standard 10-digit "vanity numbers" procured by the C4C team to
perspective buyers, currently this includes ringtones based on The Jerry Springer Show through the number
888-JERRY TV. When users dial the number, they hear a customized message and clear instructions about how
to get the ringtones. They then select and purchase the them through simple touchtone input. The ringtone is
then automatically sent to the user's cell phone.
The C4C system architecture is unique in that its intuitively simple IVR/voice activation interface integrates
directly with mobile messaging networks. Mobile content is delivered to the user's mobile phone via WAP,
SMS, or MMS and is billed through the carrier's premium SMS billing system, which is fully supported by the
C4C system.
"We are excited to be working with UrbanWorld Wireless to make it easy to get mobile content simply through
a process they are already completely familiar with - dialing a phone number," said Steve Cherry,
CommerceTel CEO. "They are providing some of the coolest mobile products around and C4C will help them
distribute their products quickly."
C4C is the only system of its kind. Unlike other systems that require the use of special dialing formats such as
#ABC or **123, which can only be used at the discretion and with the permission of individual wireless
carriers, C4C uses North American Number Plan (NANP) numbers that can be dialed from any mobile or
landline phone. C4C is an all IP, all software, massively scalable platform that supports virtually unlimited
simultaneous inbound calls. It enables content owners and mobile marketers to launch various campaigns for
interactive advertising, mobile content distribution, and transacting of commerce by phone. A content owner
can initiate a C4C mobile campaign in a matter of minutes. No need to wait for the provisioning of special
dialing codes or short codes that can sometimes take months.
